The City of Kyndale.

"It's nothing," said another man. There was dead silence in the forest.

Vanessë quietly muttered, "The forest is not silent for no reason..something is near."

"This forest is ALWAYS silent!" The man backed up away from the group some, near a tree. "It's in the middle of winter!"

Vanessë narrowed her eyes, "It is only silent if you don't listen. However....right now it is silent either way. Not natural."

"You damned Forest Elves are full of-" suddenly, the man stopped dead in his speech, as he widened his eyes, his mouth opening in sudden agony. Behind him, a shaded figure had wrapped its arms around him, its mouth moved at his neck as the squeezing of arteries could be heard. Crimson fluid rapidly stained the snow below. It took several moments before the man began to wail in terror.

Emerith reacted within a second, and shot an arrow towards the man killing the soldier. Her aim savant quality.

Thew! The sound of the arrow flying against the wind reverberated around the group, slamming directly into the attacker's face! Alas, it continued to feast upon the flesh of the man, who was now shaking back and forth, falling into silence. More figures were visible in the area, thousands of sets of eyes now glowing an icy blue.
"Flee!" said the paladin as he raised his hammer. "In the name of the Gods, I shall hold them at bay!"

Kyrian looked at the paladin, "You'll die within seconds! It isn't worth it just c'mon!"

"Go, magic user! There are too many!" The paladin turned away, lifting his hammer as he charged in towards the dead. "FOR FAELDAR!!!"
"LET'S GO!!!" Halthas cried out as the men began to flee. He pulled up a bow of his own, little more than a stick decorated by a leather string. He knocked one pointed shaft, and released the string with a tug! It slammed into one of the corpses, who nevertheless continued to approach forward. The paladin was still visible madly swinging his hammer, now surrounded by the dead.

Kyrian scowled, "Put your damn bow away and run. If Em can't kill them then you can't either," the troupe begin to sprint as he speaks, running as lightly as wolves across the snow.

At this point, most of the northern men had already been surrounded by the dead, still fighting. The walking corpses now filled the forests, feasting upon all of the flesh that they could get their hands on. Faeldar, the paladin, was visible eventually being overrun, falling over as the luster of his armor was eclipsed by the dead. The boy, Damien, cried out in terror as he was surrounded and overrun, the corpses shoving him downwards and feasting upon him. Entrails were seen being pulled up as he kicked and wiggled around, crying out in vain for his mother, and then for the Forest Elf. "HELP!!!"

Vanessë stopped, but is quickly swept up by Gaius, he threw her over his shoulder and carries her.
"No! Wait!"
Gaius huffed, "He's gone, we can't help him."

The elf was nowhere to be seen. With the paladin and most of the northerners fallen, the troupe seemed to be isolated and on their own. Several more corpses stepped out in front of the fleeing troupe, attempting to surround them and cut off their escape.

Kyrian held up his hand as he was running, and fire ejects out of it, incinerating any undead it touched.
"We need to MOVE. The city is most likely gone."

The vast amounts of the dead, in their hunger for flesh, were silently disappointed as the troupe makes their escape, showing their cunning and speed. One of the wandering corpses, a mere boy that has become even more pale of skin, turned his icy gaze towards a glow on the horizon- the city of Kyndale sat within his view. He let out a hiss, and several other corpses turn. Like a domino effect, the entire army of corpses began to turn, stepping forth from the forests in the thousands and wandering towards the gates of the city. As the night endured, only more suffering would be revealed.

The group sprinted across the snow into the woods, their mood sad and hopeless. They all knew what would become of Kyndale, and that they couldn't do anything about it.
